Quiet Time at Squam

Last Squam post... while I could go on and on about the lovely kindred spirits that attend Squam every year, one thing I look forward to almost as much as meeting new people is the down time. I love walking in the woods, feeling as far away from the city as possible, the only sounds heard are those found in nature.

Here are some pictures from Squam that reflect that precious solitude I enjoy so much:

More Squam

Here's a continuation of yesterday's post about the Squam Art Workshops. These are a few pictures I took in class and during our various evening activities. There was always something to do but we could opt out if we needed some down time at any point. So nice!

I've also added a bunch more pictures on my Flickr page, so check there if you'd like to see more.

First night in the playhouse where the teachers introduced themselves.

First class, "Magic Carpet," where Terri taught us how to make these cool painted floor mats.

My sunflower mat!

Fresh flowers in Maya's class, "Printing with Botanical Designs."

Squam Art Fair Saturday night. My booth is on the right.

Charlotte of House Wren Studio. She was a teacher at Squam and also was kind enough to drive me up from Boston. Her work is exquisite!

Back from the Woods

Ahhh... even though it rained the last morning, it was still hard to leave Squam. I had been looking forward to it literally since I left last year and once again, it did not disappoint. Take an idyllic setting, lovely and inspiring people, super fun classes, great food and drinks, what's not to love?

Of course I took a whole bunch of pictures too. I'm going to post them over a couple days since I don't always like looong blog posts and I want to do the session justice! So I will start with the awesome cabin I stayed in with twelve other wonderful ladies:

Cragsmere, the name of our cabin

What a spot! We decided quickly that it was the best.

My room

Donna (my roommate), Kristin, and Elaine on our dock. We spent a lot of time there.

Sarah, Debbie, and Jessica

The lake was coooold but I did jump in on Friday (ok- eased in). So refreshing, much like the rest of the weekend. More pics tomorrow!
