"Women in Fitness" Art Show at Be Well Studios

For the rest of January and the entire month of February this year, I have a photography show up at Be Well Studios in Scituate. Be Well is an awesome fitness and wellness space right on Scituate Harbor and they host local artists on a regular basis. I was thrilled when they asked me to be the first artist on display for 2017.

If you happen to be on the South Shore, swing by and check it out!

Jamaica Plain Open Studios is This Weekend!

The weather is looking GORGEOUS this weekend which is a good thing because it is the 21st annual Jamaica Plain Open Studios!!! I will be back on the porch with all kinds of new framed work to show. I will also be showing a portion of my Why I Run: A Boston Marathon 2014 Project work from my show last spring so if you missed it when it was up at Sweetgreen, you have a second chance to check it out in person!
I will also have two members of Boston Handmade with me showing their work in the same location-

Bev Feldman of Linkouture
Bev is a jewelry designer and blogger who creates modern and elegant sterling silver chainmaille jewelry. Her work often includes freshwater pearl bracelets, necklaces and earrings; handcrafted stone jewelry; and bridal jewelry.

Laurie Lynn Berezin of Beryllina
Laurie Lynn handcrafts all Beryllina jewelry in Concord, MA using only gems and minerals mined in the United States. She even mines some of the stones herself! Laurie Lynn also only uses recycled precious metals; all of her raw silver and gold is sourced from a certified recycled refinery in Virginia. She learned the true craft of jewelry fabrication at the renowned North Bennet Street School in Boston, and enjoys crafting one-of-a-kind original and custom designs.

Ready to come see us?? We will be at:

Why I Run: A Boston Marathon 2014 Photo Project at Sweetgreen in Boston

I'm happy to say that after many hours of coordinating shoots, photographing the runners (in all kinds of winter weather!), typing up their stories, printing, framing and hanging... the show went up this morning! I'm so pleased with how it came out and I couldn't be more proud. Along with the photos, there are bios of the runners including their names, where they live in Boston, their occupations, how many marathons they've run, and why they run. Those running for charity have QR codes in their bios that link to their fundraising pages. Sweetgreen has gorgeous brick walls which the pieces really stand out on.
Thanks to everyone who helped out this morning, including Rachel Chemerynski who handles the regional marketing at Sweetgreen and made this whole thing happen (she also took that pic of me!). If you're interested in checking out the show, it will be up for the month of April. Please stop by and let me know what you think!

Here's a little photo recap of the photo show's kick-off event at Lululemon on Newbury Street last Sunday. It was a blast! We had a lot of people show up, including most of the models who were actually in the photos included in the show! Thanks to everyone who came out, it was such an awesome day and I'm so grateful for my wonderful friends.

I found out this week that I was accepted to the Coolidge Corner Art Festival in Brookline, MA. This is my first time in this show and I'm really looking forward to it.

Here is more information about the show (and a food fest that is going on at the same time!)-

On June 2th, 2012 more than eighty crafts people and fine artists will show and sell their work at the 33rd Annual Coolidge Corner Arts Festival from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Devotion School grounds at 345 Harvard Street. This free public showcase for the arts will feature nationally recognized artists as well as accomplished and emerging artists from New England working in an array of media, from jewelry, fiber, glass, ceramics to photography, watercolor and mixed media.

Continuing this year is a partnership with the 4th Annual Brookline Food Festival also happening at Devotion School from noon - 4 p.m., which will serve up bites by local Brookline restaurants such as The Fireplace and Zaftigs. Each restaurant will have its own area with tasting portions of up to three items. Tasting tickets will be sold at a central location for $2 each. Net proceeds will be donated to the Brookline Food Pantry.

UForge Gallery, Jamaica Plain

Big news- there is a brand new art gallery in Jamaica Plain! It's called UForge Gallery and it was created by Rob Festa (who also created JP to Me, an annual group show I've participated in for the past two years), and painter Brian Crete. Here is their mission statement for the gallery:

UFORGE Gallery’s mission is to foster creativity by facilitating diverse and affordable project assignment based, non-juried (open door) art exhibitions; to provide a venue to exhibit these works; to cultivate both a collaborative and inclusive arts community at large through educational workshops and special events.

Sounds good, right? The grand opening is this Saturday, April 9th, from 6:00 to 8:00pm and the show theme will be Art Deco as well as JP to Me (which I will have a piece in again). I'll be there with bells on and I hope you will be too!

Yay! Boston Handmade at Sowa THIS Sunday!

This Sunday! Boston Handmade will be descending on Sowa Open Market for a full day of showing and selling all of our handmade goods. This is the little icon for Sunday's forecast (according to NOAA) and it's pretty much the best icon you can possibly see as far as weather goes:Our event happens to fall on the same day as Dogtoberfest which apparently involves stupid pet & human tricks and is therefore awesome:

We'll be at 460 Harrison Ave in the South End from 10am to 4pm. For more info and to rsvp, please go to our event page on Facebook, hope to see you there!

17th Annual JP Open Studios

It's that time of year again- Jamaica Plain Open Studios! 220 artists in over 50 locations all over the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston will be participating in the event, now in its seventeenth year. I have participating to JPOS since 2007 and it's definitely one of my favs. Art lovers come out in droves, rain or shine, and their enthusiasm for the event and the art itself is so touching and inspiring. I always wind up seeing lots of friends and meeting great new people too.

I will be showing my work in my parents' front yard (weather permitting, otherwise I will be inside!) at 19 Eliot Street during the event which is Sat & Sun, Sept 25 &26 from 11am to 6pm. Hope to see you there!

For more information, please visit the JPOS website. You can download a map of the artist locations by clicking here.

Venue Change!

Due to the torrential downpours Boston is currently experiencing, our outdoor location at 1st Thursday has been moved to a nice, dry, indoor one! We will be at Temple Sound and Stage at 670 Centre Street (right above City Feed & Supply). We will be there with several other artisans, paintings by Nathan Dean on display, as well as the Autumn Hollow Band. Put on your wellies and stop by!

Boston Handmade at 1st Thursday

It's summer so that means JP/Centre South's First Thursday events have been in full swing and this Thursday Boston Handmade (and I) will be a part of it! Join us at the Artisan Fair on the lawn of the Loring-Greenough House (12 South Street Jamaica Plain, MA 02130) from 6-8pm on Thurs, August 5.

Participating BHers include:

Oh yes and me too. See you there!
